In a Move that just makes Sony More Popular!

Posted by Norman Rhodes On March - 20 - 2009

ps3Today IGN reported that Sony has charged a per gigabyte fee for DLC and Demos that are posted on the PSN by Publishers to Publishers. Let me clearify, the Demos and DLC you would nab off the PSN that are possibly free, well, for every gigabyte the publisher is charged with to pay…I think its quite bullcrap if you ask me. This is not the only move that has gained somewhat negative reactions from some fans. During this month sony has just been making friends with the gaming community with their decision to NOT drop the price of the PS3. Currently Microsoft and Nintendo don’t charge a fee for content posted on their online services.

Resident Evil 5 DLC Explained

Posted by Norman Rhodes On March - 17 - 2009

Credit: Kotaku

NBOS may be late on the news that broke last week in terms of explanation of the DLC coming out for Resident Evil 5, But I feel its necessary to post this little tidbit now. Capcom explained the reason behind pricing the DLC that will add a Versus Multiplayer Mode that contains two gametypes. Slayer and Survivor, the DLC will cost 400MS Points or 4.99USD on PSN. When asked about it Capcom gave the following statement:

“Although Versus mode makes use of the assets that exist in the game, the functionality is not currently in the game and is above and beyond the initial scope of Resident Evil 5,” says Capcom. “We have never included a Versus mode in Resident Evil before, and as well as the costs of development of the feature, there’s also additional bandwidth costs associated with it.”

Be ready to shove out that money for the MS Points or just shoving out money period to get this DLC when it drops.

Ninja Gaiden 2 Remake Coming to PS3

Posted by Norman Rhodes On March - 17 - 2009

Credit: Kotaku

Reported at 3AM this morning, the Xbox 360 exclusive Ninja Gaiden 2 is getting a remake made specifically for the rival console PS3. This project is still being made by Team Ninja, but not the original team that made Ninja Gaiden 2. The game is slated to drop this fall under the title “Ninja Gaiden ? 2″. When reached for comment on the remake, Tomonobu Itagaki, former leader of the original team that made NGII, said the following:

All you need to do is play Ninja Gaiden II and then try and play Sigma afterwards and you’ll see why. Despite the fact that it’s on a ‘next-generation’ console there’s no evolution whatsoever. That was made not by me, but one of my sub-ordinates who basically tried to copy the success of Ninja Gaiden.

As you can see with the picture posted above, It shows the proof of this game coming to PS3, on top of that this game will have PSN Support and another playable character, Ryu’s friend from DOA, Ayane. May the PS3 fanboys now jizz their pants!

DLC from Steam?

Posted by Norman Rhodes On March - 17 - 2009

Steam is a well known client for all of your PC Gaming needs…well in terms of games and content that is. Yesterday, Kotaku reported that Valve has announced that it will offer in game downloadable content for its users. This is a big deal for PC Gamers that use the Steam client, being that now, they will have to actually pay for content generated for a game rather than download a free mod from a community member. This also leaves the question out there, if that will keep developers from adding some sort of map editor for their PC games provided by Steam. The first game announced to take advantage of this thing will be a title called “The Maw”.

Student Sues Airline

Posted by Norman Rhodes On March - 11 - 2009

How much must this suck, you’re a student at Yale. Your core entertainment before the next day of classes is to relax with your Xbox 360 and on a flight to Cinci its been lost! Well that’s what happened with one Yale Student who’s suing US Airways for losing his Xbox 360 that had a specialized Hard Drive on it. His flight was from New Haven, CT to Cincinnati, in which US Airways lost his luggage containing this 360. He’s suing the Airline for over 1mil dollars in damages and 1,700 for the 360. Some guys are just unlucky, but that’s a lot to be asking for out of an airliner. Also a spokesperson for US Airways says the government limit is 3,000 dollars for liability for lost luggage. Good Luck to that guy.

Skyfire…wait…FIRE IN THE SKY!?

Posted by Norman Rhodes On March - 3 - 2009

I’m sure with all these web browsers out for PC you really don’t look towards the mobile phone market for variety. Today I give you a new browser for your Windows Mobile phone that kicks all kinds of ass and makes the IE browser a thing of the past. The name of it is Skyfire, currently its in beta for Windows Mobile Phones and two Nokia Phones. This is a FREE download and takes the experience of using a browser on your PC and brings it to your phone. Not just looking at silly mobile versions of websites, but looking at a full website, on your phone. It comes with Flash installed with it, but heres one of the downsides to it. When I tried to test it out on a site like stickam, where it uses flash even for the chat. I couldn’t type anything. Everything else ran fine though. It lets you link your Twitter and Facebook accounts to the homepage and lets you see those updates from twitter. I would like to see a bit more out of that feature, like letting me update from the homepage. One last thing about this browser, its load times are pretty good on heavy sites. It didn’t take too long for a page to load or for a transition from one page to the next to happen. Overall, I like the potential this Browser has compared to this boring ass Internet Explorer on my phone, and look to use it a lot more.

If you’re tired of IE, Switch to Skyfire and enjoy seeing the internet on your phone!
