UFC 2009 Undisputed Fighting Style Tips

Posted by Norman Rhodes On May - 24 - 2009

So, you want to be a UFC Fighter? Well here are some tips that’ll have you submitting guys like and actual MMA Pro.

Striking:

Muay Thai – Utilize the Muay Thai Clinch. Knees and Uppercuts definitely will rock your opponent in no time if you’ve done enough damage to your opponent. Before utilizing the clinch, use your kicks, leg kicks will drop their guard enough for you to sneak in the head kick or body kick if your looking for the KO or Submission.

Boxer – Boxing is a more stand up game, so connect with a lot of combos and make good use of the lunge hooks as well the ducking hooks. These hooks will help you in the long run when trying to get the all important KO off your opponent.

Kickboxing – Same as boxing but using Kicks. You’re still using your hands for the combos to open up the mid section then out of nowhere, KO with the head kick. Head Kicks seem to be the stronger of the two signature moves when using a Kick boxer.

Grappling:

Brazillian Jiu Jitsu – BJJ is more of a submission fighting style than ground and pound. With this, you want to wear your opponent down and finish them off with a Triangle Choke on the ground.

Wrestling – Wrestling has more to do with taking down an opponent, then punishing them on the ground afterward. With this fighting style, you want to go for the take down and finish off the fight with a ground and pound.

Judo – Judo is a counter attack fighting style, which takes a lot of patience. With this fighting style you want to wait for the opponent to attack and surprise them with a vicious counter that turns things into YOUR favor. Finish the fight anyway you want with this one.

Hopefully this helps out some of you who have been struggling with some of these fighting styles, and hopefully are put to good use.

Rampage = Next Fight for Lyoto Machida

Posted by Norman Rhodes On May - 24 - 2009
lyoto-machida

You know you ain't Ryu

Dana White is a man that has found twitter. What does Dana White, the man who runs UFC do with Twitter. He announces the next Match Up for Lyoto Machida being Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. This is off the heels of a big win over Rashad Evans last night at UFC 98 and now he has a BIGGER challenge in front of him with Rampage. Rampage is known as one of the best boxers in  UFC, as well as one of the toughest opponents in the Light Heavyweight division. One hit, and Lyoto could possibly be in big trouble against Rampage. Lyoto, very quick, known as one of the most elusive fighters in the UFC and STILL undefeated, if put to good use, he could retain the belt against rampage. No date yet on when these two will face off, but my bet will be UFC 101 or 102.

Anime Picks Of The Day! #1

Posted by Norman Rhodes On May - 24 - 2009

So i’ve been looking for something to post since i’m barely home to keep up on the news around the gaming and sports world. So, Why not give you a little Anime to watch (if you’re in to that type of thing) during the weekend, or week.

1 – Ergo Proxy

a5115-64In a future where the world has been ravaged by a nuclear apocalyse, there exists salvation in a domed city named “Romdeau”, where humans and their android servants, the autoreivs, live in. Under the implementation of complete management control, it is a paradise where feelings are literally discarded, and the governing council dictates the way of life the citizens should live. But this utopian landscape is soon broken by a series of mystifying murders. Real Mayar, a female inspector from the Citizen Information Bureau, along with her autoreiv partner Iggy, are tasked to solve the murder cases. She is soon attacked by a creature drawn to her which is neither human nor android, and learns about the mysterious phenomena called “Awakening”, an event which draws her further into the case…and to the world beyond the limits of Romdeau. (Anime News Network)

This anime is dark mixed with some Mystery. I’ve watched a couple of episodes of this (subbed) and enjoyed it so far. You should give this a watch.

2 – Death Note

a6592-25Yagami Light is an ace student with great prospects, who’s bored out of his mind. One day he finds the “Death Note”: a notebook from the realm of the Death Gods, with the power to kill people in any way he desires. With the Death Note in hand, Light decides to create his perfect world, without crime or criminals. However, when criminals start dropping dead one by one, the authorites send the legendary detective L to track down the killer, and a battle of wits, deception and logic ensues…(Anime News Network)

This is probably one of the best Animes that has been released in the past 2-3 Years. IF you haven’t caught the English Dub thats being shown on Adult Swim, try to catch it while they’re still showing it. If you don’t want to see that one, try and find it on a website that still has the subbed version.

3 – Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood

a10216-41Two brothers lose their mother to an incurable disease. With the power of “alchemy”, they use taboo knowledge to resurrect her. The process fails, and as a toll for using this type of alchemy, the older brother, Edward Elric loses his left leg while the younger brother, Alphonse Elric loses his entire body. To save his brother, Edward sacrifices his right arm and is able to affix his brother’s soul to a suit of armor. With the help of a family friend, Edward receives metal limbs – “automail” – to replace his lost ones. With that, Edward vows to search for the Philosopher’s Stone to return the brothers to their original bodies, even if it means becoming a “State Alchemist”, one who uses his/her alchemy for the military. (Anime News Network)

I think this is more of a reimagining of FMA but without the fillers which is what DB: Kai is doing, which I have no problem with, cause every person hates to watch fillers, and only wants to see Action. Which FMA Brotherhood gives you. If you haven’t seen Full Metal Alchemist before, this might help you out a little bit.

So that’s it for now, be sure to check back to the blog for more Original articles like this and more!

2 Days and Counting

Posted by Norman Rhodes On May - 17 - 2009

In 2 days, the highly anticipated UFC game will be released to the public. Do you have your copy reserved at a local Gamestop or pre-ordered through amazon.com? Its been a long road from first hearing about this game to finally getting hands on with it through the demo that beat out Left 4 Dead in the top games played on Xbox Live. May 19th, 2 days, everyone will be using their favorite guy to go online and fuck someone up with or get fucked up with. I seriously can’t wait for this game to finally get home with me so I can play it. Just thought i’d leave a little excitement post before the game is released and also tell you to look out for the NBOS review on Thursday.

Funimation On Demand Has Arrived

Posted by Norman Rhodes On May - 15 - 2009

funlogoAs of May 1, If your cable company carries Video On Demand (VOD), you might want to give it a look and check out the newest addition to its possibly awesome lineup. Funimation who is known to hold some good animes like “Beck”, has its own channel and has finally brought their VOD Channel to some of the major cable companies. From watching the “What’s New” video, Its going to offer its library of anime for free and for a price. Let me explain further, its offering some of the animes that have been out there for a while and already released on DVD for FREE, while stuff than hasn’t hit DVD yet will be offered at a price of .99cents. While I don’t agree with that way of pricing your customer, it’ll do to compete with Anime Network who as well is operating their own VOD Channel. Right now the Funimation VOD Channel is availiable for Comcast, Verizon FiOS, and Dish Network. You can also go to their site at funimationchannel.com to find out the listing and find out if they have their 24/7 channel on your lineup!

P.S. I know i’m late hush.
