Some EA Press Conference Notes And Reactions
EA’s E3 Press Briefing wrapped up not too long ago, which will not be the case possibly after this is posted. However, we..or technically I will give you the notes and reactions to some of the announcements.
Starting off this little article because I was unlucky enough to not have caught the WHOLE thing, this is what I took away from the press conference.
- DEAD SPACE 3
+ The game was demoed
+ Drop In and Out Co-Op was Announced
I haven’t finished two yet, and from watching the demo they played during the broadcast, I wasn’t floored by it. It looked alright, but kinda like Dead Space 2 not a big change in the look. I did however see some new weapons that were only shown for a few seconds during a trailer. I think I would have to see more before I make a decision on buying this or renting it…I have a lot of time to make up my mind about that being the game comes out February 13, 2013.
- MADDEN NFL 13
+ New Infinity Engine
+ Connected Careers Info
+ Mobile Integration
+ RPG Elements Added Cross Modes
+ Social Network Integration
I’ve been a little stand offish when it comes to Madden after last years game. Everything seemed to start fine and went downhill afterward. This year when they introduced the Infinity Engine, it peaked my interest. A new engine that brings near Back Breaker like tackles and animations to Madden 13. I became a fan but I’m still a little hesitant to fully commit like Madden 13 is USC and I want to be their quarterback. The other things is the fact they are bringing in RPG elements to the game in the form of the Connected Careers feature. It gives you the chance to “Create your personal legacy or relive an all-time legend’s as you build the ultimate franchise as a coach, an NFL superstar, or yourself.”. Another part that might interest you, is the fact you can manage your career across different platforms. Meaning you can control your legacy from your phone, the web or back home on your console. Overall, it wasn’t a flooring experience, but I think it will hold Madden fans over until the next thing is announced.
- BATTLEFIELD 3
+ Battlefield 3 Premium Announced
Battlefield 3 didn’t have much of a big splash during this press conference. The only thing announced is the one thing we’ve been hearing about for weeks leading up to today, and it became confirmed…today. For $49.99 you get access to all of the DLC (past and future), 20 new weapons and a bunch of other stuff. Again, this was rumored heavily leading up to the event and I am one of those people who are not very excited for the release of this premium service. Speaking of that…its available NOW for PlayStation 3 players along with the release of Close Quarters. This won’t hit PC and Xbox 360 until next week. I’m sure there are a good amount of players who are going to buy this just for the simple fact of getting the DLC early and free.
- Medal Of Honor: Warfighter
+ Gameplay Trailer Shown
+ Multi-Player Trailer Shown
I’m going to make this short, I’m not a big fan of the Medal Of Honor remakes. This one showed a little better than the first game but didn’t impress me at all. The game will release October 23, 2012.
- FIFA 13
+ New Gameplay Trailer Shown
Like Battlefield 3, not much was shown for FIFA 13. A new gameplay trailer showing off some of the features was shown and a little hype talk. I’m very interested in this game because I want to see if they’ve done anything to improve certain aspects of be a pro career mode. Only time will tell, the game comes out later this year.
- UFC and EA SPORTS ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP
My first thought was that hell had finally frozen over. Dana White completely BASHED the MMA game EA Sports put out and even threatened to blacklist any fighter who appeared in it. Now it seems he’s changed his tune and is in this partnership with EA to make the next UFC game, which could mean the UFC licence has been taken away from THQ. I thought this was HUGE, THQ has been in control of the UFC license for some time now and all of a sudden, its possibly out of their grasp.
- NEED FOR SPEED: MOST WANTED
+ Refined Autolog Featured
+ Game Demoed
+ October 30th Release Date
The Burnout Devs brought this game to E3 and it actually shocked me. I didn’t see any news leading up to the event that hinted at this game being there. While I love Criterion Games, what they showed off was pretty darn cool. You probably thought I was going to say something bad, but I’m saying the opposite! I loved the Burnout elements they integrate into the Need For Speed games they’ve made because it always adds another element for players to mess around with. That includes making your opponents crash. My attention was kept as the person demoing the game was trying to escape from the police during the race and he made this jump from the top of a platform. I look forward to seeing more from this game.
- CRYSIS 3
+ Game Demoed
While Crysis 3 had a stage demo that showed how pretty it was…it also showed how badass it was. By badass I mean I can FINALLY release my inner Hawkeye with the new Crossbow like weapon that just looks….awesome. I was impressed because seeing Crysis run on the CryTek 3 Engine just brings tears of joy to my eyes. It was a pretty solid demo of the game and I will probably end up buying it.
Overall, from what I witnessed at least, it was a sub par press briefing. I took a lot of good and some okay things from it and if you missed it, try to catch a replay or see if it’s archived on YouTube.
